Who I Am

I am a wedding and portrait photographer based in Portland but catering to clients across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. During the school year I teach communication courses to college students at Oregon State University. I try to make every situation I’m in an enjoyable one. Whether I’m teaching in classroom or trying to get the perfect shot at a wedding, I’m upbeat and enthusiastic making sure that everyone has a good experience. When I’m not working I enjoy going to coffee shops, local boutiques and exploring new places.

How I became a Photographer-

I haven’t been photographing since I was 5, I never imagined that I would be a photographer as a child and I didn’t own my first DSLR until I was 21. However, I remember the day I decided I wanted to learn the ins and outs of photography. I used my college textbook money to buy my first Canon Rebel from craigslist.  I was jumping up and down with joy and scratching my head at the same time because I knew that this would not be just simple hobby. Within two years of owning a camera for personal use people began requesting professional photography services and Julia Green Photography was born. My faith is very important to me and my business has allowed me to see life through a new perspective while also gaining a clearer focus into how God wants me to serve others! You can read more about how my faith has played into my business model on a blog I posted HERE.

Why I am a Photographer-

We take photos as a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone.

Photography inspires me to open the door to creativity, beauty and appreciating “the moment”.  Time only moves forward and it’s something we can never get back no matter how hard we try.   Photography is powerful because it allows you to be still and pause an exact point in time; a moment that when combined with several others creates a story. I don’t create the stories; I capture them so that they will never be forgotten and can be told from generation to generation.
