Speech from a Biblical perspective

{ God has been a big part of my life and I think it’s great to know that there is someone else watching out for us.  God is over the top in love with you and has unimaginable plans for your life!  I hope that you will find encouragement as I share authentic posts about my faith.  He>i represents my desire to seek the kingdom before anything else.  He must become greater; I must become less- John 3:30.  }

While preparing to lead Bible study tomorrow morning I really felt the Lord speaking to me through scripture on the importance of our speech.  Being a communications college instructor I find it really interesting that Jesus talked a lot about how we are to speak.  He said that we are to use righteous and constructive words that are timely, controlled, truthful, encouraging and build up those who we are around.

This is different from the kind of communication we see on TV and from the world who uses reckless and destructive words such as lying, flattery, gossip and cursing which all benefit the self.  This is something that I need to remind myself of daily and by no means have mastered.  However I see the benefit of following the principles of speaking from the Bible and I always enjoy being around people who are uplifting and encouraging.

1/5 of our life is spent speaking our story.
